Happy 2 years & 97 days until Owen arrives!!!!!

Ryan and I celebrating our two year wedding anniversary at CITE in Chicago.
27 weeks along...I feel like I have a bowling bowl in my stomach now!!!!
360 degree views from CITE on the 70th floor...Lake Shore Drive and the Hancock building at sunset...so pretty!
Cite is in the building right next to Navy Pier, top floor is the restaurant on the 70th, every other floor is residential...could you imagine living here!!!!
Our glider and ottoman...so comfortable:)
Let's hope Owen is a CUBS fan, b/c he sure will have enough stuff! I have a feeling his auntie Sarah will try to make him a BOSTON fan, and his Uncle Sean will try to make him a Yankee fan...so we will see who wins! :) :)
The hat rack I made Owen :)
Ryan and I made Owen a build-a-bear at the Navy Pier store before our anniversary dinner...Meet MR. CUB :) I just think he is adorable!
*********************************************************************************
I official start my third trimester tomorrow...wow! I have been reading my baby books a little more lately (I have been really bad at that!) and it relieves me to know Owen is capable of breathing outside of me now if heaven forbid something happens! (My co-workers' sister just had her baby at like 30 weeks, so that is scary how those things happen.) According to those books I also have 97 more days until Owen will be full-term...so crazy! I definitely feel him ALLL the time, my stomach is hard as a rock, and seems to get bigger each day...it feels like a bowling ball in there! Ryan can feel him on the outside now all the time, so that is cool. I am feeling okay, sleeping is still not amazing, but I can't really complain because things haven't been that bad. I am still walking 30-45 minutes at day during the week (on top of all the walking I do at work) and I also do this exercise machine at my lunch break for 30-45 minutes because it really helps my back pain. SO I am still trucking along!
Ryan and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary this past Monday. I had this romantic SURPRISE getaway planned for this weekend, but of course I couldn't keep it a secret, so I told him on our actually anniversary. I had booked a hotel room downtown Chicago and made reservations at restaurant. After we talked about it, we decided to cancel the hotel and save our Marriott reward points for a "babymoon". We have enough points together now for a 5 night stay AND all-inclusive package...so we have been looking for places to book probably April 2011, and want to bring Owen with us:) Just something relaxing and low-key...sounds amazing!
So we kept the restaurant reservation, a place called CITE, Ryan's cousins, Kristin and Drew, recommended it to me. It is at the top of the Lake Point Tower next to Navy Pier. It has floor to ceiling windows all around the restaurant, so the views were amazing. We were there for over 2 hours and just had a great time.
We are missing out on Ryan's family birthday celebrations today back home, we are sorry we couldn't be there! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SARAH, GRANDPA CHUCK, AND GRANDMA RETTA!!!

************************************************************************************

This weekend has been super long and I LOVE IT! The weather has been amazing this weekend, so we have been outdoors most of the time. Saturday we went to Chinatown, something I haven't done yet in Chicago. It was quite an experience. We stopped to eat at a restaurant, and we were not quite sure what was going on b/c nobody was serving us...come to find out it is something called "dim sum" where they wheel around carts of food and you just grab stuff off...it took us like 10 minutes to realize what was going on and 3 waitresses because they did not understand what I was asking!! Ry and I could not stop laughing, at least we learned something!

We ended up just walking around Chicago the rest of the day and finished our baby registry at Babies-r-us. That night, my husband gets a craving (notice, not the pregnant lady!) for SuperDawg, a 50 style restaurant in Chicago where you pull your car up and waitresses come out to it and are known for thier HOT DOGS. Come to find out there is one really close to our house in the 'burbs. (STEVE, next time you and Lu come, we are taking YOU!!!!)

Sunday, Ryan and his friend, Blair, went golfing all day and I enjoyed being outside and relaxing. We went back down to Chicago, grilled out with Blair and his girlfriend, Megan, then went to a street festival where my favorite band from last summer, WEDDING BANNED, played. They are hilarious and so entertaining, I had so much fun, and OWEN was KICKING like CRAZY during all the music...haha!!! Here is the link from last summer's blog, there is a video of the band on there, hahahaha, they definitely got better over the past year, so fun! http://rkmckee.blogspot.com/2009/07/sunday-funday.html

Today we are going to just relax, maybe do some more yardwork...Speaking of, LU we need to call you, we have a mole or something eating all my flowers and digging holes in my garden:( not sure what to do about that!!!! Hope you all had a fun weekend and those that went to the race had a BLAST!!! Sorry we missed out on the Indy fun, but Chicago was not too shabby:) We will be home next weekend for a bachelorette party and wedding! take care!

Owen kicked Ryan :)

I had my 24 week doctor appointment yesterday. Nothing really eventful, just had to take that glucose drink (I chose fruit punch not orange, not too bad actually) and got blood drawn/tested for gestational diabetes. I find out the results sometime next week. My doctor told me I needed to "graze" more during the day with food...I don't have many cravings and I force myself to eat sometimes because I know I need to for Owen, I just get really full, really fast. So I am going to try having smaller snacks/meals throughout the day and see if that works better for me. I did get to hear Owen's heart beat on the doppler, it took my doctor a couple minutes because Owen was jumping around and kicking so much, he literally kicked the doppler over and over again, blocking out his heart beat! haha, but we finally got it and it sounds great! I am going to sign up for a prenatal yoga course at our hospital in Evanston, it starts June 14, so that should be fun! I am feeling pretty good overall so that is nice.

Ryan and I were sitting on the couch last night watching a movie, and Owen, of course, was dancing around my belly...Ryan always tries to feel it and he hasn't be able to until now! Owen kicked Ryan's hand really hard, surprising Ry. I was so happy he finally got to feel it!!! I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!!! :) I will probably post some pictures from this weekend, we are going to be out and about Chicago for the most part :) take care and be safe!

Guinness sleeping in our front yard while Ryan and I washed our cars...he had a long weekend with Liberty and Houston at home!!!! :)
************************************************************************************
Ryan and I went home to Noblesville this past weekend. Saturday Ryan met up with a group of his friends at Purgatory Golf Course (where we had our wedding reception) to play golf during the day. My sister, mom, Macy, and Cole met up with my friend Ali, her mom, and her boys at Relay for Life in Indy. It was such a beautiful day and we had fun playing outside with all the kids and walking for a good cause! It was really nice to spend some QT with everyone, especially Ali because I never get to see her! After the fun afternoon in the sun, I met Ryan at Purgatory for our friends', Darren and Julie's, couple wedding shower. It was such a nice party, and so fun to catch up with our good friends. Bonus: it was at Purgatory, like I said above, where we had our wedding reception, so it brought back great memories!!! Today, my mom, sister, and I spend the majority of the afternoon signing up for Owen's baby registry at Babies'r'Us and Target. WOW, it is very overwhelming allllllll the stuff to get!! But it was so helpful to have their input on what to get, what to wait for, what products are the best, etc. Ryan got a little taste of fatherhood, and spent the afternoon babysitting for Cole with my dad :) while us girls (including Macy :) worked on the registry. Guinness got worn out as well from this busy weekend...he fell asleep outside when we got home while Ryan and I were washing out cars!! such a cutie!

Planting Flowers & Meeting the Neighbors!

Ryan and I spent the WHOLE day outside today! It was absolutely beautiful here! We took advantage of being home on such a nice day and landscaped the front and back yard. With the help from my mother-in-law via phone (thanks Lu!), we went out and got a bunch of flowers and plants that would be okay in our shady front/backyard. The people that lived here before us planted tulips which are nice, but will not grow up front, so we had to dig them up and planted Hostas and Impatient flowers. I am super sore right now but feel good, I didn't know gardening was such a workout!!! (BTW, I have been doing my exercises for my back as well as walking/yoga and whatnot, and my back feels so much better...knock on wood!).
While outside, we met our new neighbors who are moving in...they are young couple like us, and have a two year old and a 2-month year old! We talked to them for about 10 minutes, and I am really excited to have someone like them right next door! They are also from Indiana and the husband went to Purdue, so that is really cool too, we seemed to have a lot in common with them. We also got to meet a couple of our other neighbors, and they all seem very friendly and nice people...even offered to dog sit for Guinness! I think we lucked out with the neighbors, which makes me happy!
Lastly, above is a picture of some more of the furniture we got delivered...Owen's room is slowly getting together...we still have TONS to do, but it makes me feel better that we have started. Speaking of Owen, he is kicking LIKE crazy now, those long legs are definitely strong! :) but such a cool feeling...:) Miss you all!!!!!!!
